An Abecedarian’s Antiloquy

Good times, bad times

Friends, colleagues, food, beer, cheer, wackiness, melancholia… the best of times, the worst of times. Some images though, are too fragile and indelible to commit here… so I tuck every last detail safely away in the mind’s eye, to savour over and again.

Roll over for captions.

After all’s said and done, we’ll just have to wait and see.

Metamorphosis

Coming full circle, the departure and subsequent return from points A and B, is always somewhat of a sobering adventure. You’re back where you once was, yet, faced with a familiar situation, you realise with a start you’ve outgrown your skinsuit, you now possess a new perspective previously denied to you. Then you laugh, of which the cadence rings bittersweet, an indifferent rumble that percolates as if it were a tenacious brew.

How to speed time now, how to slow it then, when I call your name. Secretly, most of us would like to remain as baby middles, not relapse into patterns, back into baby olds. The complications we get ourselves into, and witness as an observer casually standing by the periphery. Unwed mothers. Loyalties tore apart by divorce. All this. All this.

Time has a knack of raising you up, then cutting you off at the knees.
